Customs recordal: stopping infringement at the border
Customs recordal is a low-cost, high-leverage tool many outbound companies overlook.
Against import/export of counterfeits, customs IP recordal is a low-cost, high-leverage tool: once recorded, customs can seize suspected infringing goods at the border on its own initiative.
Its value is moving enforcement to the border, intercepting the cross-border flow of knockoffs — especially effective against bulk counterfeiting. Yet many outbound companies underuse it.
The pragmatic approach is to complete customs recordal in major import/export markets and combine it with monitoring and complaints for layered interception from border to platform.
